Transitional Pieces for Winter's Arrival

As winter is vastly approaching us, or has it already arrived? There are many opportunities to re-vamp your style and work on thinking outside your comfort zone when it comes to creating the pieces for everyday appeal or a winter's night out...
Katie's look is easily versatile for whatever kind of look you are aiming to achieve.  This ensemble is perfect from hopping out of the office and straight to a happy hour with co-workers.  It's also a great look for an afternoon out with friends or a Sunday get together with close friends.  Paired with a high boot or solid wedge and you're bound to turn heads.

Katie's second piece is crucial to understanding the power of turning your summer frocks into winter staples.  Both of these items definitely possess a summer's edge to them but when put next to contrasting colors and adding the right accessories you have officially winterized your look.  Shorts are in full swing this holiday season and with the right color tights and boots you can find multiple ways to add keep using what you got until Spring rolls back around.

One of my favorite pairs of shorts this winter is Victoria's Secret "Tuxedo Short". A classic fit high waisted short that can easily add a slimming look and ideal paired with any blouse or cardigan.

'Tis The Season For Holiday Glam

In just a few weeks you'll most likely be scouring through your closet looking for the perfect holiday attire to set you a part from co-workers alike. In the midst of new holiday trends, colors, styles emerging it's easy to get lost in what's party appropriate or what best fits your figure and frame.  Below I've pulled some ideas from multiple shops that are work not only for your upcoming holiday function but in many other events that creep up in your schedule.

Behold these two H&M classics; both are exquisitely fit for any social event this holiday season.  Both could be paired with tights, a fitted belt to clench the waist and heels or a pair of riding boots. And if you want to make these great pieces last a few times over, wear one to any wedding function, or evening out on the town.  These dresses can resurface again for your summer wardrobe with the help of a great cardigan, and a pair of wedges to complete your look.

Long skirts and formal dresses are also in full swing these next few months; The classic gold and silver gives a great twist for dazzle and shine to dress up any wardrobe.  If you choose a longer skirt make sure you pair it with a top that enhances the richness of the outfit and caters to the contrast you are working with to achieve your look. Any solid, bold, longer skirt will work in your favor as long as you create a composition that connects the two pieces together.  In the latter picture, it's clear that while the skirt offers its own attitude the shimmer and sparkle of the shirt truly brings it all together.

And just around the corner, at your nearby Express Fashions you'll notice the company is already rolling out holiday as well as New Years' favorites that are guaranteed to make you stand out. Check out their new arrivals page and your screen will be dancing with a handful of colorful options that can easily suit your frame and taste. The color block bandeau dress beneath serves as a brighter option that still presents that formal holiday attire but adds its own twist with a pop of color and sleekness.

Holiday Gift Guide

Since Halloween is now out of the way, November means one thing: Anticipation of Christmas. Although it may seem like Christmas comes too early each year, most stores receive their seasonal merchandise well before the summer months cool down.  This year our obsession with finding the perfect gift comes full throttle with a laundry list of fresh ideas, inspirational finds, and of course one of a kind items that are sure to make you stand out as the ideal gift giver this year.

Take for instance ModCloth's "Listen and Leap Ear Muffs" which intertwine cute, cozy style with techy-heart trend.  While these ear warmers are practical through the winter chill they are also part of the many new items that have surfaced this year to give way to the technology vibe pumping through our streets.

Find out more about this and other goods at ModCloth's website: http://www.modcloth.com/Modcloth/Apartment/Gifts+Electronics/-Listen-and-Leap-Earmuffs

Francesca's Collections, a nation wide retail boutique offers it's own twist on what to get him and her this year, and their corporate website allows you to sort through the many treasures they have to offer.  Each boutique carries similar items but all are merchandised to their own accord; projecting that unique flair that lets each Francesca's Collections boutique make it owns impact on each customer that walks through the door.

Take for instance the super popular "Wine Monkey" sleeve that is a national favorite among shoppers--the perfect birthday, holiday or party pick me upper. Not sure what mom wants this year? Look no further!

Or how about the "Mixed Messages Mug" Which allows each person to construct their very own motto for the day! These items all reflect a eclectic twist on everyday items, and now with a new spin they are breathing new life to once mundane gifts.

At my own Francesca's Collections I set up a "Gift Impulse Table" where each package is tied to a gift theme the shopper may be looking for.  One is set up for the "Chef" you might be trying to find the perfect gift for, the second the "Fabulous Female" you've been struggling to master the perfect surprise , and finally the "Tech Lover" in us all has it's own section of gift options.
